Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has told Radio Yorkshire he never gave up hope of breaking into the first team.
The 21-year-old was named man-of-the-match in the Whites Championship opener at Bolton last Sunday and has pledged his future to the club by recently signing a contract extension that'll keep him at Elland Road until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Ahead of hosting Preston tomorrow, Phillips says he never thought about leaving the club he loves:
"It's always frustrating not playing but I believe when I'm not playing I'm always working hard to get that recognition to play and I've done that.
"It's always in the back of your mind (to leave on loan) but I'm from Leeds, I love Leeds so I don't want to play anywhere else."
You can listen to Leeds United v Preston North End LIVE on Radio Yorkshire this Saturday, our coverage starts from 1:30pm.
